For days mainstream media have told us about demonstrations, either upcoming or occurring, in Ferguson, Missouri.
Unfailingly (I do not remember even one exception) they told us it was over the shooting and killing of Michael Brown, “an unarmed Black teenager”.
This description is a blatant lie of omission which suggests a helpless kid was shot down in cold blood for the “crime” of being Black.
It intentionally ignores the fact that Brown was 6\’4″ tall, weighed almost 300 pounds, had just robbed a convenience store and physically attacked the store owner who tried to stop him, had been walking in the middle of the road with his lying criminal friend dorian johnson, which is why Officer Darren Wilson addressed Brown at all, was high on marijuana (2 1/2 times the limit to legally drive in Colorado), and according to eye witnesses – not the ones who lied about “hands up, don\’t shoot”, the ones whose version coincided with the autopsy results – was charging Officer Wilson when Wilson shot and killed him.
What effect do you figure this wholly dishonest representation of the Michael Brown shooting would have on the streets of Ferguson – which, let\’s remember, erupted in violence last year, with part of the town burned down two different times?
If you figure riots – once the sun went down and it was dark – you are 100% correct. Because that is what took place last night.
And, of course, the same mainstrem media which misrepresented what happened to Michael Brown, are also telling us, this morning, that it was a peaceful demonstration which erupted into violence…instead of in any way recognizing that this is a formula, used again and again: i.e. a “peaceful” demonstration (usually with copious cop-baiting through the day to try to generate a reaction), followed by violence when the sun goes down.
With the above in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate mainstream media.
Since this is exactly the kind of “reporting” which would generate what happened in Ferguson last night, you have had a great success.
How proud you must be.
