Today\’s quote comes to us from MSNBC\’s Chris Matthews – one of the few show hosts who seems likely to come out of MSNBC\’s house-cleaning unscathed (though it is not easy to undertsand why, since he is a perennial ratings loser to Fox and, occasionally, CNN).
What did Mr. Matthews do to win this “honor”? On Friday\’s show, he asked a simple question of DNC chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz:
“You\’re the chairman of the Democratic Party. Tell me what\’s the difference between you and a socialist.”
Wasserman Schultz did not answer his question. Instead, she went on a standard-issue speech about how bad Republicans are.
Doubt me? click here for the video:
Uh…Ms. Wasserman Schultz we know you don\’t like Republicans. We know you can rattle off a few sentences about how terrible they are in your sleep. That\’s nice. But it is not what you were asked.
How come you can\’t answer it?
Chris Matthews wins Quote Of The Day honors for asking that simple question.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz wins a prize – one I haven\’t named yet – because, by not being able to answer that questions, she gave voters far more understanding about what the Democrat Party has become than anything she could have tried to come up with.
