THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from Anthony Batts, the Police Commissioner of Baltimore.

Here is how he explains the dramatic upward spike in crime since Freddie Gray\’s death and the rioting, looting and arson which followed:

“There\’s enough narcotics on the streets of Baltimore to keep it intoxicated for a year,.  That amount of drugs has thrown off the balance on the streets of Baltimore.”

I have a question for you, Commissioner Batts:  assuming you\’re right (and that is a big assumption), would you mind telling us how all those drugs got in the hands of all those drug users?

Could it have something to do with the police being told to stand down, while looters cleaned out that CVS and who knows how many other drug stores?

Could it have something to do with the police, understandably concerned about their every action, no matter how justifiable, being recorded and judged by people who want nothing more than to destroy their careers and lives, backing away from all but the most unavoidable law enforcement?

Baltimore was a horribly crime-ridden city to begin with.  And now the street thugs – aided and abetted by a joke of a Mayor and an even bigger joke of a State\’s Attorney – is the 2015 urban version of the wild, wild west.

I award Commissioner Anthony Batts Quote Of The Day honors for trying, as best he can, to veer accountability for this impossible mess away from the people above him who are most responsible for it….even though he has failed miserably in doing so.
