There are a lot more important things to talk about today than New England Patriots\’ quarterback Tom Brady\’s disgraceful laugh-off of the findings that the footballs supplied by his team were deflated. But I found his “performance” (if you want to call it that) so offensive that I feel compelled to blog about it.
Last night, Brady attended what amounted to a booster rally in Salem, Massachusetts – a crowd virtually unanimous in its love for him and the team. During a Q and A, he was asked if the NFL\’s determination that he “probably” knew the footballs had been compromised in his favor tainted his team\’s super bowl win.
And with a du–u-uhh, grin on his face, he said “Absolutely not” – to the cheers of his fans.
It was a peformance reminiscent of Bill Clinton\’s several days ago, when he was asked where all the money foreign countries poured into The Clinton Foundation” actually went (its filings show only a tiny fraction being used for charitable ventures). He put on the same goofy grin as Tom Brady and insulted his audience\’s intelligence with “I just work here, I don\’t know”.
It was an offensive, even taunting, BS response from Clinton then, and it is an offensive, even taunting BS response from Brady now.
I hope they both get nailed for it.
