It has been so many years since I cared to watch a boxing match that I know virtually nothing about the sport. I don\’t even know who the heavyweight champion is – something which, not so many years ago, would have been unthinkable for just about anyone, regardless of his/her interest in boxing.
But I have heard enough hype about tonight\’s welterweight championship fight between floyd mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, so that I did a little checking.
In brief, what I found out was that Manny Pacquiao, despite his violent profession, appears to be a very good man. By contrast, floyd mayweather Jr., in keeping with his violent profession, is a sickening excuse for a “man” who likes to beat up on women – even in front of their children. You can read all about his sordid history by clicking here.
So, although I have no affinity whatsoever for boxing – the “sport” of one person trying to beat another senseless for money – I am rooting hard for Manny Pacquiao to win.
Go Manny.

UPDATE: mayweather won in a unanimous decision. Very sorry he did.
