The U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) begins

It is going almost completely unreported by our media, but…

…the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), negotiated by President Trump, which replaced the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) disaster, starts today.

How much of an improvement is it over NAFTA?  Enough so that even Nancy Pelosi, who never has a good word to say about Trump, told us:

“There is no question, of course, that this trade agreement is much better than NAFTA.”

You’d think this boost to our economy/replacement of an economic horror show would be a pretty important story, wouldn’t you?  Especially given the hit we’re taking over COVID-19.

But let’s be realistic.  USMCA is a major positive check-mark for Donald Trump.  And we can’t have the public seeing that, can we?  So I expect that its advent, while probably mentioned in passing, is going to be as underplayed as possible.

Will I be right or wrong about this?  Monitor the news coverage today and see.

I’m giving odds.

  • How many of you have family and friends that when asked about Trump or what he has done while in office get the answer, ‘Trump has been terrible’ or something similar?
Then when you ask them where they are getting their information, are told, ‘well I don’t really watch the news or read the paper’?
If you are like me, it is most of your family and friends that say these types things. Have you ever asked them how they could have an opinion on something they admit they haven’t paid attention to?
