This is an easy part to, uh, impart.
I can do it by posting the first paragraph of an article by politico.com\’s Mike Allen:
WithAmerica\’s #1 newscast at stake, NBC Universal CEO Steve Burke helda meeting with NBC News executives at his house yesterday to discussthe next steps in the Brian Williams crisis. Williams still hopes tosurvive, and is considering the timing and venue for his nextapology. But his cancellation yesterday of an appearance on the “LateShow with David Letterman,” scheduled for Thursday, was a sign thatthe agony – for Williams and the network – may be prolonged.
Prolonged, Mike? It depends on what you\’re referring to.
If you are referring to the agony of having an anchor – and news director, let\’s not forget – who apparently makes a regular habit of either embellishing his gravitas or just making it up as he goes along, you\’re right. That, combined with NBC\’s history of falsifying/doctoring news, is going to haunt the network for a long time to come.
If, however, you are referring to Brian Williams\’ tenure as news anchor/managing director of NBC Nightly News, I wouldn\’t count on there being much longevity.
I\’d say prospects are that the Brian Williams Ouster Show will be a mini-series.
We\’ll see…….
