THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

  1. Today’s quote comes to us from presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg;  Harvard graduate, Rhodes Scholar and Oxford graduate Pete Buttigieg.

Here, from an interview yesterday, is how Mr. Buttigieg characterizes his potential
presidency:

“Well, if we’re talking about a voter interested in progressive change, my message is that I would be the most progressive president we’ve had in a half century,”

Uh…Pete…

I don’t know how to break this to you, but the President of the United States a half century ago was none other than Richard Nixon.   And while Mr. Nixon was a considerably less conservative President than most people think, he certainly was no competition for progressivism, 2020-style.

Put another way, I somehow doubt the fact that you would be more progressive than Richard Nixon is going to be especially meaningful to the current Democrat voter base.   It’s a little like trying to sell a physical conditioning program by telling potential customers it will put them in better shape than Michael Moore.

I award Pete Buttigieg Quote Of The Day honors for, albeit unintentionally, assuring me that a Harvard and Oxford education does not necessarily translate into proficiency with either history or logic.
