THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from Kevin Jackson, a talk show host and author, who, while on location in Ferguson, Missouri, was being interviewed by the folks at WMAL radio, Washington D.C.

Here is what Mr. Jackson had to say about the Michael Brown shooting and its continuing aftermath:

“Blackpeople are committing outrageous acts of crime and, in fact, the sadstatistic – and people don\’t want to admit this – the mostdangerous person on the planet, statistically, is a young black male. So, all of this statistical crap that I go against when I talk toMarc Lamont Hill and all these other leftist buffoons is out thedoor.

“Youneed to stop making excuses for people who are doing bad things. These are not bad kids, they\’re bad people in bad situations.  “Butthey\’ve been put in bad situations by idiotic liberals, people whoare apologists, enablers, who want to tell these black kids, \’It\’sokay you don\’t have a daddy, go rob a store.\’

“Everybodyinvolved – sharpton made the comment when Brown robbed thatstore, \’that wasn\’t really a robbery\’ – he said,‘shoplifting.\’  He tried to minimize what this guy did.

“Now,let me ask you this: What about these real victims, the people whosestores are getting burned down and looted? Anybody, I dare anyliberal to tell me this has risen to that level.

“Thesad part is these people in Ferguson have watched on TV as a bunch ofopportunists, profiteers, thugs kicked in their shop doors and stoleeverything, took their livelihood away from them and everybody satand watched.  And a bunch of apologists comeon TV and go, \’Oh, well, it\’s a shame but this is about MichaelBrown, hands up.\’   Hands up, nothing. You know, enoughof this nonsense.”

Strong words.  Strong, blunt and highly provocative.

Do you agree with Mr. Jackson – a Black man whose opinions, presumably, are informed by the fact that he himself has four sons, any one of whom might experience an interaction of one kind or another with police at some point?  Your call, of course.

As for me, I award Kevin Jackson Quote Of The Day honors for the courage it took to join that small, brave cadre of Black people who are not about to pretend that the only side to this story is a racist cop murdering an innocent choir boy who did nothing except try to surrender.

When it comes to the Michael Brown story, courage is a very hard attribute to come by.  I applaud people who show some…and wish there were a lot more just like them.
