BASPA: WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT MEANS TO OPPOSE IT

BASPA.  The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Infant Protection ‘Act.

What it is:  legislation which says that if an abortion is being performed, and it doesn’t succeed – i.e. the baby is born alive – whomever is performing the abortion must do what he/she/they can to protect that child’s life.

You know, just like it was a live born baby.  Which it is.

In 2003, almost identical legislation – called BAIPA (the Born Alive Infant Protection Act) was proposed in Illinois, where Barack Obama, at that time, was a state legislator.  Obama did everything he could to prevent it from becoming law.  And he was successful in his efforts.

How many live babies have died because of Mr. Obama’s “success” is anyone’s guess. But don’t wait around for media to tell you about it.  They didn’t then, they didn’t when he ran for President and they won’t now.

However, some writers did try as best they could to advise the public of this horror show.  I was one of them – a number of times over the years.  Here is just one of my blogs on the subject.

Why do I bring this up now?  Because the House of Representatives just voted on BASPA legislation yesterday.  And it passed…

….by a vote of 241-183.

Every Republican voted in favor.  And 183 out of the 189 Democrat house members voted against.

What was in the bill that every Republican voted to enact and virtually every Democrat voted down?

Here’s your answer via the following paragraph from Alexandra DeSanctis’ article at nationalreview.com:

This bill contains criminal penalties to punish sabortion providers who fail to give medical attention and care to these infants. It mandates that any child born alive after a failed abortion be transported to a hospital instead of remaining in the care of the abortionist. It requires that health-care practitioners and hospital employees report violations of the law, and it institutes penalties for the intentional killing of a born-alive child, including fines and up to five years imprisonment. The bill would also grant the woman on whom the abortion is performed civil cause of action and protection from prosecution if her child is not cared for after birth.

Is that a problem to you?  Or do you prefer that abortionists be given the “right” to allow live babies to die – babies whose only crime is that they successfully averted the first attempt on their lives?

How about remembering this vote on election day.  And every other day as well.
