REAL RACISM (CONT.)

What do you think about a United States Senator being attacked because he is in an interracial marriage?  Not very much, I hope.

Well, it happened in Kentucky just yesterday – and is our latest example of Real Racism:

Excerpted from Joe Arnold\’s article at WHAS:

Aspartisans prepared for the much anticipated Fancy Farm speechesSaturday afternoon, the Kentucky Democratic Party has delivered asharp rebuke to a series of comments on Twitter from a Democraticoperative who referenced the ethnicity of Elaine Chao, the wife ofRepublican U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell.

“Google ElaineChao, #MitchMcConnell\’s wife,” Groob tweeted Saturday morning. “No mention of Kentucky, she is Asian.”

WFPLreporter Phillip Bailey screen captured the tweets:

 Lovely.  Just lovely.

If the disgusting Ms. groob had left it at the fact that Mr. McConnell\’s wife, Elaine Chao, was not a Kentuckian, this might have passed the smell test.  But by specifying she is of Asian ancestry, that took it right over the line…by about 100 miles.  There\’s only one reason something like that is said.

Not surprisingly, the reaction to this display of “pssst, she\’s not White like us” was less than positive – and, only after getting a taste of that reaction, the Kentucky Democrat Party quickly had the tweets deleted and denounced them to boot.

But Ms. groob was not fired or forced to resign; as of now she stays right where she is (I\’m betting she won\’t be there within 48 hours).  And her “sincere apologies for poor choice of words” has about as much sincerity as an invitation by hamas for Benjamin Netanyahu to be guest of honor at a Ramadan celebration.

Real racism. It comes in all forms, from all sources. No group is immune to it, or from it. Certainly anyone obnoxious enough to single out a Senator\’s wife for the “crime” of having Asian ancestry.
