Today\’s quote comes to us from Allison Lundergan Grimes, opponent of Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY). She said it several days ago, but I did not come across it until now – or I assure you it would have been up here earlier.
Here is what Ms. Grimes had to say about Israel\’s Iron Dome defense system:
“Obviously,Israel is one of our strongest allies in the Middle East, and she hasthe right to defend herself. But the loss oflife, especially the innocent civilians in Gaza, is a tragedy. TheIron Dome has been a big reason why Israel has been able to withstandthe terrorists that have tried to tunnel their way in.
Huh? Wha?
Apparently Ms. Grimes, and Ms. Grimes alone, has determined that Iron Dome does not shoot down incoming missiles, it stops attacks emanating from tunnels.
With insight like this, I say that, if she wins the election, Grimes should immediately be made chairperson of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
My congratulations to Allison Lundergan Grimes. On the assumption she knows better (at least I hope she does), Ms. Grimes wins Quote Of The Day Honors for the most well meaning gaffe of the week – actually, maybe of the month, or even year.
And, though I am not supporting her candidacy, I concede that, with responses like this one, she probably would fit right into the U.S. Senate.
