REPEAL AND REPLACE. IT’S BAA-A-A-AACK

Remember that victory lap Democrat took on ObamaCare’s repeal and replacement?

Well, it just might have been a tad premature.

From Peter Sullivan’s article at thehill.com:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Wednesday that he supports a newer version of an ObamaCare repeal-and-replace bill, throwing some support behind the last-ditch effort.

McCain said he backs a bill from Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) that would convert ObamaCare spending into block grants for states.

Asked if he supported it, McCain told reporters, “Yes. You think I wouldn’t be?”

Graham is one of McCain’s closest friends.

McCain was one of three crucial Republican votes that killed the GOP repeal effort in July.

Republicans face a tight deadline of Sept. 30, when the fast-track process known as reconciliation needed to pass a repeal bill without Democratic votes expires.

Asked if he thinks the bill has legs before Sept. 30, McCain said, “I do.”

As you may recall, the repeal of ObamaCare, which required a majority senate vote, failed earlier this summer because every one of the 48 Democrat senators voted against it, and were joined by 3 of the 52 Republicans – one of them John McCain (which makes his “you think I wouldn’t be” in favor of this new attempt, as if it hadn’t happened before, sound ridiculous, doesn’t it?)

Well, if the same vote were taken today – with McCain on board and, let’s not forget, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) on trial for corruption thus unable to vote – it would pass.

Does that mean that repeal/replace legislation has smooth sailing ahead?  No it does not, as the article makes clear further on.  But does it mean there is a genuine, realistic shot that the unworkable monstrosity known as ObamaCare might finally be done away with?  Absolutely yes.

Keep your fingers crossed that repeal and replace happens.  And keep them crossed that the replacement is better too – because there are no guarantees on either.
