SENATOR MCCAIN’S SURGERY

Senator John McCain had surgery today to remove a blood clot above his left eye.

I hope you join me in wishing Mr. McCain a quick, complete recovery.

A legislator unable to cast their vote is hardly a new situation.

At one time, a member would be “paired” with one who wished to vote the opposite. Both would abstain from voting to cancel out the two opposing votes. Very civilized, and maintained the vote margin.

Why is John McCain not paired with a Democrat on this vote ?
Is it still done? Is the media merely hiding this option?
