Today’s quote comes to us from Kim Guadagno, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s running mate – who is now desperately trying to distance herself from him.
Here is what Ms. Guadagno has to say about Mr. Christie and his family enjoying a beach no other citizens were able to use because – due to an impasse between Republican Christie and the Democrat-majority legislation, there was an impasse that shut down government services, including the state beaches and parks:
“If I were governor, I sure wouldn’t be sitting on the beach if taxpayers didn’t have access to state beaches. It’s beyond words.
“We need to end the shutdown now. It’s hurting small businesses and ordinary New Jerseyans. Instead of political games, Governor Christie, Speaker Prieto and Senate President Sweeney should pass a budget that delivers property tax “relief and puts taxpayers first.
I have little doubt that most New Jerseyans agree with that quote. But will it convince them that Kim Guadagno is somehow separated from the Governor who selected her as second in command?
She certainly hopes so. But I have a funny feeling that, fairly or unfairly, the attitude of this commenter on Ms. Guadagno’s facebook page – and, probably, many variations of his words – are being echoed by countless New Jerseyans today:
“Funny how you only start criticizing Gov. Fatass now. Too late though, his smell of greece, onion rings and sweat is all over you now.”
