I could probably end this blog right at the title.
The Today Show, this morning, provided serious, fairminded coverage of the Veterans Affairs (VA) scandal – after not reporting so much as one word about it the day before, and after the entire NBC News apparatus providing a scant 3 1/2 minutes of coverage over the entire Memorial Day weekend on all its news shows combined.
What has suddenly moved NBC to cover this huge story, after previously ducking it? I wish I could say the nature and scope of the story is the reason, but that obviously is not so – otherwise it would not have taken until this morning.
But, that said, I do welcome the report itself. Please click here to watch it.
Will NBC in general, and the Today Show in particular, use this as a starting point and seriously cover the VA scandal?
