MOTHERS DAY; CHICAGO-STYLE

Chicago celebrated Mother’s Day weekend this year with 8 dead and 43 wounded – almost all of the shooters, and victims, Black – usually young men.

How can this be?  Chicago has what arguably are the strictest gun control laws of any major city in the United States.

And everyone knows that if you pass stricter gun control laws, shootings go down because it is so hard for guns to be owned and used legally, right?

Uh….right?

My heart goes out the the people of Chicago, most especially Black families in primarily Black neighborhoods, who want nothing more than to live their lives in peace.  As the agenda-driven leftists scream out their slogans and march in the streets, these are the people who suffer most.

They are caught between the police who – with considerable justification – they feel either do not care about them, maybe even hate them, or are too fearful of repercussions to protect them, and the scum of the earth gang-bangers who “own” the streets they walk every day and would kill them without a second thought.

Who stands for them and their concerns?  Mayor Rahm Emanuel? What has he done about this, besides nothing?  What has he risked to speak honestly about the violent crime in Chicago – who is primarily committing it, who is  primarily victimized by it, and the meaninglessness of gun control laws to them, since almost none of the crime is committed by legal gun owners?

As long as Chicago remains a one-party town, with the party in question finding it convenient to leave things as they are rather than risk the wrath of “community leaders” whose investment in the city requires the continuation of poverty and dependency, this is not going to change…

…which means it is not going to change in the forseeable future.
