THE CLINTON FOUNDATION SCANDAL

If it were any other presidential candidate – certainly any other Republican candidate – the email scandal would have ended his/her campaign long ago.

However, we are talking about Hillary Clinton, the Democrat Party’s Great Hope, so that, of course, did not happen.

But can even Ms. Clinton withstand the Clinton Foundation scandal?

I wrote about this a full year ago – citing a devastating exposé by the New York Times’ Debra Sontag (I wonder if The Times would print it now) – about how the Clinton foundation rakes in tons of money, makes its founders (Bill, Hillary and Chelsea) rich, but disperses only a tiny fraction of its assets to charitable causes.

Well, it is a year later.  And little has changed.

Excerpted from Alana Goodman’s article at freebeacon.com:

The Wall Street analyst who uncovered financial discrepancies at General Electric before its stock crashed in 2008 claims the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation has a number of irregularities in its tax records and could be violating state laws.

Charles Ortel, a longtime financial adviser, said he has spent the past 15 months digging into the Clinton Foundation’s public records, federal and state-level tax filings, and donor disclosures. That includes records from the foundation’s many offshoots—including the Clinton Health Access Initiative and the Clinton Global Initiative—as well as its foreign subsidiaries.

According to Ortel’s reports, the contribution disclosures from the Clinton Foundation don’t match up with individual donors’ records. He also argued that the foundation is not in compliance with some state laws regarding fundraising registration, disclosure requirements, and auditing rules.

“Starting almost 20 years ago in 1997, the Clinton Foundation spread its activities from Little Rock, Arkansas, to all U.S. states and to numerous foreign countries without taking legally required steps to function and solicit as a duly constituted public charity,” wrote Ortel, in a letter posted on his website.

Ortel said his reports in the coming months would also provide evidence that the foundation is not complying with state laws on fundraising, financial disclosure, and audits.

“I’m against charity fraud. I think people in both parties are against charity fraud, and this is a charity fraud,” he said.

Dirty, unprincipled, maybe even out-and-out fraudulent.

And – the New York Times article I cited above notwithstanding – a scandal that is almost completely buried/suppressed by mainstream media…which, when it comes to Hillary Clinton, has given up any claim it had to journalistic integrity.

But I have a question for you – and for Ms. Clinton and for the compromised media:  do you doubt for a minute that Donald Trump will “trumpet” this information.  Loudly?

Do you doubt that Mr. Trump will also “trumpet” the fact that Hillary Clinton still refuses to release the transcripts of her quarter-million-dollars-a-pop speeches to a who’s-who of Wall Street and banking giants – exactly the same people she tell us us she will rein in if she’s elected President?

And do you blame him?  Why shouldn’t he do so?  If he doesn’t, who else will?

For some people, of course, this will all fall on deaf ears.  There is a segment of the voting population who will vote for Hillary Clinton regardless of how dirty she is.  And how unaccomplished.  And how dishonest (calling the devastated families of Benghazi victims liars was arguably the lowest she got, but there was plenty of competition).  They are hooked on Hillary.  Owned and operated sock-puppets who will figure out a way to excuse anything and everything that should make them think twice about voting for her.

But, among people who actually care about the quality of who they vote for, it will tell them, again, that Hillary Clinton is a detestable presidential choice, who should never get their vote.  (And, no, this is not an endorsement of Donald Trump, who is unworthy of the Presidency as well, albeit for different reasons).

I do not know of a worse presidential election year in my lifetime.  How I wish I could erase it from existence.
