“80% of success is showing up”: Woody Allen
Is Woody Allen’s comment the rationale for John Kasich still running for the Republican presidential nomination?
Maybe.
A case can be made that if, for any reason Donald Trump falters – maybe says something so beyond egregious that the party has a credible argument for dumping him (with that mouth of his, it could happen) – and if the only one left is Kasich, he’s the lucky winner.
It certainly can’t be his primary success, because – other than in his home state of Ohio (an important swing state, let’s remember) there isn’t any.
Maybe he still hopes for Trump not getting a majority of the first-ballot votes at the convention, then falling backwards….which again would most likely redound to the only other guy standing. I don’t know.
As things now stand, the Republican Party is going to field a candidate who not only has no political qualifications for the office, but antagonizes pretty much everyone he ever comes in contact with, makes wild statements he sometimes walks back/sometimes doesn’t, and has found a way to divide us by race, ethnicity and gender that would make Barack Obama blu….er, forget that one; Barack Obama does not seem to have the capacity for embarrassment.
Why did it happen? Essentially because when Republicans took both houses of congress, instead of pushing forward what most of the party faithful assumed to be its principles and objectives, all the Republican leadership did was canoodle with Democrats and wind up giving them more of the same.
Trump, therefore, is the byproduct of the Republican party leadership’s duplicity and dishonesty.
And they’re complaining about him? They created him.

UPDATE: It is now being reported that Kasich is going to make a statement this afternoon, ending his campaign.
Donald is Tr)iump(hant).
I can’t wait to hear what Hillary has to say about it…and what Donald has to say about what Hillary has to say.
Fasten your seat belts.

How do we prepare for a Hillary presidency???
