42 MILLION REASONS THE “SCHUMER SHUTDOWN” MIGHT END THIS WEEK

Did you know that something like 42 million people currently are recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)?

Did you know that, due to the government shutdown being orchestrated by Democrat Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, that assistsance program will not be able to provide the money on November 1?

And if that were to happen, do you have any doubt Democrats will try to blame Republicans for the lack of SNAP funds?

And when they try, do you have any doubt Republicans will point out that they keep voting for extending the budget – which would keep SNAP funding in place – and Democrats keep voting against it?  That they will put up a record of all the votes to prove it?

And since it is a very good bet that a disproportionate percentage of SNAP recipients vote Democrat, not Republican, if a cutoff of funding results in feelings of anger/alienation/betrayal – which it will – the party most likely to be hurt is the Democrat Party.

This, it seems to me, is a major impetus for Schumer/Democrats to end the shutdown – claiming, of course, that he is/they are doing so out of benevolence to needy SNAP recipients, not because their political calculus changed.

Is this the way it’s going to go?  We’ll find out soon enough.
