WISHFUL THINKING: THE TEXAS SENATE RACE

The Texas Primary is over.  The Republican candidate will be Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who wiped up the floor with incumbent/frequent Trump nemesis John Cornyn.

But now, several news venues – CNN and politico.com among them – are speculating that this is going to be a serious horserace between Cornyn and Democrat candidate James Talarico.

That so?

I’ll make this short and sweet:

Paxton won yesterday’s Republican primary runoff with 64% of the Republican vote to 36% for Cornyn – a 28% blowout. By contrast, James Talario edged out the lunatic-on-wheels, Jasmine Crockett, by a 6% margin; 52% – 46%.

But that’s not the key issue.  The key issue is Talarico’s comments – in mostly conservative Texas – about gender.

Here are two of them, pulled from Curtis Houck’s article at newsbusters.com:

-On April 20, 2021, Talarico informed us  “Modern science obviously recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes. In fact, there are six.”  Did you know that?

-While you’re pondering the six biological sexes “information” you might want to consider this other comment, made October 15th of that year: “God is non-binary.”

Five years later, to my knowledge, Talarico has not taken back either of those comments.

Do you really think that when Paxton tells Texas Voters about Talarico’s claims regarding gender, including God’s gender – which he certainly will – that is going to result in him being competitive in this race?  If so, I have a nice bridge to sell you.

Bottom line?  Barring some amazing information we currently do not know about, this is going to be a win for Paxton.
