WHY YOU CAN’T TRUST MAINSTREAM MEDIA (CONT.)

Did you hear about the fact that “revised” data show there were 911,000 fewer jobs created than originally reported?  I’ll bet you did, because it was all over the news.

But what was the media spin on this information?

I’ll give you just one example (and there were many others to choose from): the NBC News article, written by Steve Kopack.  Here is how it begins:

U.S. jobs growth was much slower than previously reported, according to revised data released Tuesday.

The number of jobs created in the United States from April 2024 to March 2025 was revised down by 911,000 by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That would roughly amount to 76,000 fewer jobs created each month of the year up until March.

The revision draws fresh attention to the weakening U.S. labor market, which added an average of only 29,000 jobs in each of the three most recent months.

The August jobs report showed that the United States added only 22,000 jobs that month and also revised June’s job growth down to a loss of 13,000 jobs.

Those datapoints have led economists and some policymakers to conclude that the U.S. labor market is now at a standstill. “The jobs engine that has been integral to U.S. economic growth defying expectations for the past four years is stalling,” Sarah House, a senior economist at Wells Fargo, said in a note Friday.

Woah, terrible news.  “The jobs engine that has been integral to U.S. economic growth defying expectations for the past four years is stalling.” Dammit, things were going fine for the entire Biden administration until Trump showed up and kiboshed job growth.

Except there is a bit of a problem with this presentation.

See, the job data that were wildly exaggerated occurred predominantly in the Biden administration, not the Trump administration.  And the “weakening U.S. labor market” was fully in progress when Trump became President.

Doubt me?  Well, let’s see:  the 12 month period during which job growth was so greatly overinflated was from April,2024 to March, 2025.  Who was President in April of 2024?  And May?  And June?  And July and August and September and October and November and December and most of January?

It was Joe Biden, not Donald Trump.  And unless you think Trump magically put all his policies in place, and they immediately took hold/affected anything for the first two months, you can add February and March in as well.

But even if you pretend Trump’s policies took hold the first day of his presidency, the fraudulent overreporting of job growth – 10 of the 12 months – was predominantly during the Biden administration, not the Trump administration.

And, not incidentally, that means those glowingly positive, but fraudulent, job numbers were available for the entire 2024 presidential campaign, to the benefit of, first, Joe Biden and then, Kamala Harris, not Trump.

What a coincidence (feel free to wipe the sarcasm off your screen any time you care to).

But where in Steve Kopack’s article does he mention that the inflated job numbers occurred during the Biden administration/were beneficial to the Democrat Presidential candidate for the entire campaign?  Nowhere, that’s where.

And the same omission can be found in article/broadcast report after article/broadcast report from other “news” venues as well.  See, you’re supposed to blame Trump for this, not Biden.

Any doubt about why I don’t trust mainstream media anymore?
