Hmmm….sitting on my couch and watching a speech by Barack Obama, or heading into Manhattan with my wife and seeing Alan Cumming and Emma Stone in Cabaret.
It was a tough decision. But, somehow, Alan Cumming and Emma Stone won out. (That, and the fact that, if I made the wrong decision, my wife would have killed me.)
Cabaret was absolutely great. And Cumming and Stone were far from the only reasons. Linda Emond as Fraulein Schneider and Danny Burstein as Herr Schultz were magnificent. Bill Heck and Aaron Krohn were excellent as well. Rarely have we ever seen so talented a cast.
Oh, did I mention the band? The dancers?
Yep, it was a tough one. But I stiffened my back (that\’s not all that might stiffen during this particular performance of Cabaret) and somehow managed to put off (for a few hours anyway) Barack Obama telling me what a wonderful job he is doing and Republicans making it clear they disagree.
I\’ll be commenting on the speech later today.
