WHO ARE THE RICHEST POLITICAL DONORS AND WHO DO THEY CONTRIBUTE THEIR MONEY TO?

We all know the really rich people give their money to Republicans, while Democrats have to scratch by with lots and lots of teeny weeny little donations by little people, right?

Well, maybe not.

Here, via data compiled by opensecrets.org, are the dirty-rich dozen; the 12 biggest individual donors to political parties last year, all of whom contributed at least $20 million dollars, and where the money went (rounded to the nearest million):

1:  Tom& Kathryn Steyer:  $91 million, all to Democrat/liberal candidates

2.  Sheldon/Miriam Adelson:  $83 million, virtually all to Republican/conservative candidates

3.  Donald Sussman:  $42 million, all to Democrat/liberal candidates

4.  Fred Eychaner:  $38 million,  all to Democrat/liberal candidates

5.  Dustin and Cari Moscovitz:  $27 million,  all to Democrat/liberal candidates

6.  James and Marilyn Simons:  $27 million,  virtually all to Democrat/liberal candidates

7.  Paul Singer:  $26 million,  all to Republican/conservative candidates

8.  Robert and Diana Mercer:  $25 million,  all to Republican/conservative candidates

9.  Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein:  $24 million, virtually all to Republican/conservative candidates

10.  Michael R. Bloomberg:  $24 million, virtually all to Democrat/liberal candidates

11.  James and Mary Pritzker:  $22 million, all to Democrat/liberal candidates

12.  George Soros:  $21 million, all to Democrat/liberal candidates

Well, well, well.

Five of the top 6, and 8 of the top 12, gave their money to Democrats/liberals.

In dollar amounts, the top 12 gave $292 million to Democrats/liberals, and $168 million to Republicans/conservatives.

That’s a difference of plus $124 million dollars to Democrats/liberals, from the richest of the rich.

That’s right.  Not Republicans/conservatives, but Democrats/liberals.

Anyone still want to tell me how The Democrat Party is the party of the poor?
