Here are two quotes, both pulled from a very worthwhile blog written by a very poorly, offensively named blogger – “allahpundit”, at hotair.com:
“For a lot of people, this is the Great Depression, but this time it’s emotional & physical. Our bodies r breaking down w fear & rage…”: Sarah Silverman
======================
“So I really think this election, they’re so disheartened, so down and so tired and discouraged, this may be their Kent State or their Edmund Pettus Bridge,” he said. “Where you finally realize that you’ve got to do something, that you can’t — the path as Martin Luther King said, ‘the arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice.’ Well it only bends toward justice if you make it bend toward justice.”: Howard Dean
Let’s take them one at a time.
Sarah Silverman, who, I am told, is a comedian, has – I mean this honestly, not in any way sarcastically – never written or said a thing I have found funny. Looking cute and saying “fuck” a lot is not my idea of humor.
Her belief, probably nurtured in the bosom of fellow hard-leftists in the entertainment industry who have a similar penchant for wildly overstating things, is, I’m pretty sure, not shared by a great many of the people she thinks are falling apart because their candidate lost. They may not like Donald Trump and wish Hillary Clinton were the next President instead, but they’ve gone back to living their lives quite well.
Regarding Howard Dean: You may remember that his 2004 presidential candidacy pretty much ended when, after finishing 3rd in the Iowa caucuses – where he had been expected to win – he made an impromptue overemotional speech promising to continue on to the other primary states, his voice quickly rising to top-of-the-lungs yelling, and ending with ungodly YEEEEEAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH scream. Bye-bye Dean. (Here’s the video)
Well, the above quote shows that Mr. Dean is still well acquainted with over-the-top reactions.
Kent State, where four students were shot and killed by National Guardspeople? The Edmund Pettus Bridge, where civil rights marchers were confronted, stopped and beaten? These events compare to losing an election??????
Yeah, sure, Howard. Or should I say YEEEEEAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH. sure – you know, to make you feel more at home?
Personally, I am pretty sure that, Sarah Silverman’s and Howard Dean’s beliefs notwithstanding, the people of this country will somehow find a way to carry on. Hey, who knows? They might even like what a Trump presidency brings.
Now that would be a reason to scream YEEEEEAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH about.
One last thing: “allahpundit” often provides commentary worth putting up here. But I find myself resisting the use of his material, because I am offended by that stupid, intentionally provocative name. Maybe, “allahpundit”, it’s time to be a bit more adult.
