Donald Trump has been President (this time around) for 19 days – not quite three weeks.
Here is a very quick summary of what has happened so far:
-Never in my (or, I’m sure, your, or anyone’s) life have I seen more presidential activity than has taken place over this short period of- time.
-A lot of what has happened I like very much. A lot of what has happened is not only positive, but imperative for the good of the country.
-That said, however, a lot of what has happened, whether I like it or not, has, it seems evident to me, exceeded presidential authority, and will be challenged in the courts and in the halls of congress. Much of it, I am confident will be stopped in its tracks.
-No matter how much of it is challenged/stopped, precedents are being set right now that – regardless of good intentions – will do great damage to the way this country is supposed to operate. What goes around, comes around. What will Trump supporters say when a subsequent President they do not support uses the latitudes being established here?
-Going forward, I hope Trump and his people recognize this and start reining themselves in – for the good of this adminstration and for the good of the country.
In subsequent blogs, I will be specific about which actions by Trump & Co. are being referenced here. I’m sure you have your own ideas on this subject.
