I do not like Rep. jame raskin (D-MD). I never have. I find him an obnoxious, smirking jerk who – safe in a Democrat-only district that will never elect a Republican opponent – is free to continue being as obnoxious, smirking a jerk as he cares to be.
As you are aware, I hope, President Trump has lowered the boom on a number of “elite” colleges which have allowed anti-semitic activity to flourish in recent years – something that, as a Jew, you might think Raskin would appreciate.
But, like chuck schumer, raskin is a partisan Democrat first and a Jew second (if even that high).
So instead of saying something like “whatever else I think of President Trump on other issues I am appreciative of the action he is taking against anti-semitism on college campuses”, he writes this:
“[Y]our “investigation” into antisemitism was fake, a pre-baked frame-up operation thoroughly political in nature, Before an actual investigation took place and regardless of what you actually found, the whole project was designed to harass professors and administrators at major universities, to curtail their freedom of speech and academic freedom, and to strip targeted institutions of hundreds of millions of dollars in grants that they had already been awarded on the merits of their applications. This sham investigation is and will remain a shameful stain on the record of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Civil Rights Division and represents a clear and present danger to American academic preeminence in the world.”
You can read all about this in Roger Kimball’s latest article, at amgreatness.com. I fervently hope you do just that.
Too bad for jamie raskin that this isn’t, say, 1942. He would have made a great kapo. And too bad for us in 2026 that he is a United States congressperson.
