We’ve had “comedian” kathy griffin with the decapitated, bload-soaked head of President Trump.
We have the Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar, with Donald and Melania Trump lookalikes, and Trump being killed in the most grotesque way hard-left osakar eustis could stage.
And now we have this, as excerpted from Sharon Gormley’s article for the Willamette Week:
Next Thursday, Washington sculptor James Kelsey will unveil Piss Trump, a giant photography piece depicting Donald Trump naked, crucified and suspended in a tank of piss.
Kelsey says it’s not totally his intention for Piss Trump to be inflammatory.
“I want the unveiling to be a catharsis for us,” he says. “Not another reason to express anger.”
Piss Trump resembles Andres Serrano’s 1987 Piss Christ, a photo of a ghostly crucifix tinted yellow by the dark urine in which its submerged. The controversy over Piss Christ was exacerbated when the work won an award that was partly funded by the tax-payer supported National Endowment for the Arts, a budget that Trump has vowed to cut.
Coincidentally, a Houston museum currently has an exhibit where they’re displaying Piss Christ next to a portrait of Trump Serrano took in 2004.
No, it’s not meant to be inflammatory. Why would anyone think that?
This is hatred. Not political discourse, not part of a conversation about policy, not a reasoned disagreement. Hatred.
Will Democrats rise up and condemn kelsey and the Houston museum? Don’t bet on it.
The irony, as I’ve pointed out in other blogs, is that, by Trump haters acting this way, and Democrats tacitly supporting them with their silence, they may thrill their fellow haters, but they also engender sympathy for Trump among people who might otherwise be against him.
I’m a perfect case in point. I did not support Donarld Trump. I did not vote for Donald Trump. But I’ve lost count of the blogs I’ve written defending him from people like kelsey and whichever brainiac in Houston juxtaposed the equally hateful “piss Christ” with a picture of him.
The late, great Mills Brothers famously sang that “you always hurt the one you love”. And who does this self-righteous, sanctimonious bunch love more than themselves?
