Is the Washington Post in a competition with the New York Times to be the formerly great newspaper that has fallen the furthest from that status?
If so, it had a major triumph with this headline/sub-head (posted at powerlineblog.com) from an article on the Supreme Court decision blocking Joe Biden’s attempted “I give you things, so you should vote for me” forgiveness of student loans:
History says student loan debt relief isn’t un-American
Americans have long demanded — and regularly received — debt relief from legislatures.
By Chloe Thurston and Emily Zackin
Point of order: the Supreme Court ruling prevented Joe Biden from unilaterally forgiving student loans because the debt can only be forgiven by congress – which, the last time I checked, was our legislative branch.
Therefore, in trying to defend Biden from the Supreme Court’s decision, this article, at least based on its headline and sub-head, tells us the Supreme Court got it right.
Does it get clumsier than that?
Way to go Washington Post.
