Thatfear raised its ugly head in a recent hitpiece on New Mexico governor Susana Martinez in MotherJones.Its only success is in highlighting the deplorable double-standardthat women candidates face from the media, a problem that 2016Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton lamentedrecently at the “Women in the World” conference in New York City.
It\’salmost laughable to see a publication so keen on calling outRepublicans for waging a war on women quickly about-face and wagetheir own war on America\’s first Latina governor. The staggeringshortage of facts, combined with an excess of gossipy detail aboutMartinez, is intellectually lazy and blatantly sexist.
Usingsecretly recorded audio, probably from some disgruntled formerMartinez insider, MotherJonesasserts no illegal or unethical behavior stemming from theconversations captured on tape. The intent of the audio is merely tomake Martinez and her team look petty. In effect, liberals are usingthese super secret recordings to accuse Martinez of being – gasp- bossy.
2016may be a long ways off but clearly the left is preparing to wage adeath by a thousand cuts campaign against any Republican woman whomight thwart their hopes of keeping the White House.
Please use the links for Ms. Wiederspahn\’s article, and for the Mother Jones piece, to see how far this hard-left publication has gone to find something – anything – it can try nailing Ms. Martinez on. Then grow old waiting for Chris Matthews, or anyone else among the MSNBC crowd, or, more generally, the left, to challenge Mother Jones\’ Chief Washington Correspondent, David Corn, regarding its hit piece during one of his countless turns on that likeminded network.
On the other hand, maybe it isn\’t necessary. Maybe the leftward crowd can get that other rising star, of Mexican heritage, Governor Brian Sandoval of Nevada, to do it for the….uh, maybe not. He\’s a Republican too.
Well, if we can\’t use him, there\’s always Governor Nikki Haley, the Indian-ancestry Governor of South Carolina. She can beat up on Martinez for us, along with Bobby Jindal, the Indian-ancestry Governor of Louisia…..uh, maybe not them either. They\’re both Republicans too.
But wait. That can\’t be. Republicans are the rich White man\’s party, right? No Mexicans or Indians allowed, right? Everyone knows this is true, don\’t they? Just ask the folks at Mother Jones and MSNBC.
Think about that hit piece on Ms. Martinez…then think about the crap-field Nikki Haley has had to wade through…and tell me again who is waging a war on women.
