Anyone who, by now, does not recognize that Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is a serial liar who will stuck that miracle-of-cosmetic-surgery face out at you and speak without regard to honesty, facts or logic, is probably not going to care about this latest lie.
But it is still a lie – and one that the Obama administration has no problem with either, because it shifts blame for the absolute mess Veterans Administration (VA) hospitals are in from him to George Bush.
Here is what Pelosi told reporters this Thursday, about President Obama\’s reaction to the sordid conditions VA hospitals find themselves in:
“Hesees the ramifications of some seeds that were sown a long time ago, when you have two wars over a long period of time and many, manymore, millions more veterans. And so, I know that he is upset aboutit.”
You might or might not have supported our involvement in Iraq and/or Afghanistan. But regardless of your feeling about whether we should have been there, would it be fair to say you knew we were there?
Well, so did Barack Obama. And so did Nancy Pelosi. Which means that this whine in no way explains why the VA hospital system has spiraled downward over his years as President.
And that is before we get to the fact that Pelosi is flat out lying to us all by claiming that Iraq and Afghanistan added “many more millions” of veterans to the VA hospital system.
Want the facts, as opposed to Pelosi\’s lie? Here is a chart from John Merline\’s invaluable article at Investors Business Daily, which will give them to you in a way not even Nancy Pelosi can ignore:
Let me explain that chart for Nancy Pelosi\’s benefit.
I\’m reasonably confident that Ms. Pelosi is aware of WWII, the Korean war and Vietnam. They were in all the papers. If she is, it might be of interest to her that the number of military personnel who served in those wars far outnumbers those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan….and, because of their age, they are dying at a faster rate than new veterans are being created.
Got it, Nancy?
In any event, what is the point of her comment as it relates to the needs of Veterans? Whether or not we should have been in those wars (and Obama himself said Afghanistan was a necessary war, Nancy), we were. And that means there would be new veterans who needed care at VA hospitals.
It is Barack Obama, not Bush, who, as President for the past five years, has allowed the VA hospital system to degenerate into its current state.
Whining about George Bush may wow \’em at Democrat rallies, but – at least I hope – most people will understand what a dishonest, cynical dodge it actually is.
Now that we have gotten past Nancy Pelosi\’s lies (does she ever tell the truth about anything? Ever?), here is what the real problem is…which it would not at all surprise me at all if you already know.
Simply stated, it is that the more government gets involved in health care, the more expensive health care gets and the lower the quality of that care becomes.
Let me repeat: the more government gets involved in health care, the more expensive health care gets and the lower the quality of that care becomes.
Do you have a better explanation for why VA hospitals, with fewer patients and more money, have fallen to their current level? If so, I\’d love to know what it is, because I certainly don\’t.
And anyone who thinks that ObamaCare is going to in any way buck this trend and improve or even maintain health care, is living in a dream world.
But creating and perpetuating that dream world is necessary for Nancy Pelosi and her pals to continue rationalizing that the unworkable monstrosity called ObamaCare will somehow buck this trend – that it won\’t wind up costing more and providing less (which, in reality, it has already started doing). So that is what they do. And truth has no place in their equation.
But who can we blame for this? The answer, sad to say, is that we have no one to blame but ourselves.
We, as a country, elected a President with no qualifications, no history of leadership, no demonstrated capability to do anything but spend other people\’s money, and we put him in charge. What did we think we\’d get, other than a disaster (and I\’m not just talking about health care)?
Well, that is what we got…and we re=elected him anyway. Therefore, as noted above, we have no one to blame but ourselves.
But that doesn\’t mean those of us who did not vote for this woefully incompetent President have to like it.
I know I don\’t. Do you?
