AmyPascal, the embattled executive whose personal emails were exposed bythe hack on SonyPictures, has met with civil rights advocate Al Sharpton todiscuss white bias in Hollywood.
Themeeting was prompted by leakedemails from Pascal to producer Scott Rudin, in which the pairjoke about Barack Obama\’s likely taste in films. “Would he liketo finance some movies?” Rudin asked, ahead of Pascal meeting thepresident. “I doubt it. Should I ask him if he liked Django?”,replied Pascal, referring to Quentin Tarantino\’s slavery-revengethriller Django Unchained. The pair also suggested Obama might like12 Years a Slave as well as films by black comedian Kevin Hart.
Pascalapologisedfor the remarks, saying they were “insensitive and inappropriate,but not an accurate reflection of who I am”.
FollowingPascal and Sharpton\’s meeting, Sharpton tweetedthat they had a “very pointed and blunt exchange”, arguing that”Hollywood needs to change. Her leaked emails show a culturalblindness.” He added that “we agreed to work towards establishinga basis to address the issues, Ms Pascal committed to this.”
Translation: pay up and King Al won\’t call you a racist.
It\’s not like we haven\’t seen this routine before.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Democrat Party, and mainstream media (with a special dishonorable mention to MSNBC), for elevating this two-bit racist, anti-Semitic, Black supremacist, serial deadbeat hustler to demigod status — enough so someone like Amy Pascal can make things all better by kissing his ass…and, no doubt, forking over lots of money in one form or another.
