James Talarico is a young (36 years old), good looking, religious (a Presbyterian seminarian), educated (Harvard), highly accomplished Texan. He has just won a primary victory over Rep. Jasmine Crockett and will now face a Republican challenger (most likely incumbent John Cornyn, but possibly Texas AG Ken Paxton) for the United States Senate.
Given his youth, good looks and stellar background, you might think he has an excellent chance to win that election and serve as Texas’ first Democrat senator in 33 years.
But, then, there are his positions on key issues. ‘
Here are three examples, videos of which are being played on Fox News Channel over the past two days (I don’t know if CNN or MS-NOW are doing the same):
“Our southern border should be like our front porch. There should be a giant welcome mat out front”.
“There are many more than two biological sexes. In fact there are six”.
“God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is non-binary”.
How do you figure those opinions are going to play in Texas?
And if they are out there already, how many more like them are likely to be uncovered?
Bottom line: though his totals will probably be better than hers, I suspect Talarico has about as much chance of winning this election as Crockett would have. Very unlikely or less.
