THE QUOTE OF THE DAY (and more)

Today\’s quote comes to us from radio talk show host and academic Dennis Prager.  He wins the award because his comment about the “Black Lives Matter” movement…

“The Left is not only engaging in demagoguery and creating hysteria when it claims that \’Blacks Lives Matter\’ in reference to police killings of Blacks. It is also not telling the truth. Black lives don\’t really interest the Left. If they did, the Left would focus on all the Black murderers taking black lives.”

…is virtually the same as what I have said time after time in this blog .  For example, last March 15th, while talking about a group of “Black Lives Matter” people who interrupted a restaurant\’s brunch business to rattle off the names of Black people killed by police, I said this:

as any regular reader of this blog is aware, on an average day in the United States 17 Black people are killed….not by police, security guards or vigilantes, but, in almost all cases, by other Black people, with a disproportionate percentage of them young Black males being killed by other young Black males.

Funny thing though: These self-righteous, self-appointed keepers of the flame did not mention even one such Black victim.

This just might lead you to the conclusion that the only Black lives they care about are the ones they can use for political propaganda…and the others, who are just as Black and just as dead, don\’t matter to them at all.

Since Mr. Prager is in complete agreement with me, how can I not recognize him for it.

But that is not all Prager wrote.  Here\’s some more that is every bit as important….and this link so you can read his entire piece:

The problem with the mantra and the hysteria is not that no Blacks are ever killed unjustifiably by police. The problem is that it is so rare as to constitute a libel.

 

In 2013, of America\’s 6,261 Black homicide victims, more than 6,000 of them – 97 percent – were killed by people other than police. About 3 percent of Black homicide victims were killed by police. And of that 3 percent, nearly every one was armed and dangerous. To label that an epidemic of police racism is a libel.

 

In addition, more than nine out of every ten Blacks murdered were murdered by another Black person. Now that is an epidemic – an epidemic of Black murderers. (In response, it is pointed out that about 83 percent of Whites are murdered by Whites. But there is no equivalency here. Blacks murder at nearly eight times the rate Whites do – 34.4 per 100,000 versus 4.5 per 100,000.)

The tragedy – the terrible, unspeakable tragedy – of Black on Black murder is real. 

 

It is devastating. 

 

And it will never improve if the only outrage we see in mainstream media is outrage that can be presented as a racial incident.  Because that eliminates the vast majority of Black killing from the public\’s eyes.

 

To the aforesaid mainstream media:  great going.  This certainly shows us how much Black lives matter to you.
