Today’s quote – and it is a sad one – comes to us from former rising-start Democrat house member and New York City Mayoral candidate, Anthony Weiner.
As you may be aware, Mr. Weiner, whose career and, effectively, life as he knew it was ended by his serial sexting, including to minors, was in court today. He cut a deal, in which he pled guilty to a single count of transferring obscene material to a minor, and must register as a sex offender – a deal which, if it were you or me, would result in far more than the prison time he will be serving (potentially, a maximum of 10 years, but probably two or less).
Weiner through tears that I have no doubt were real, allocuted to his behavior, and said this:
“I have a sickness but I do not have an excuse”
You can say that again, Mr. Weiner.
Anthony Weiner wins Quote Of The Day honors for two reasons.
One is his apparent talent for gross understatement (and, yes, “gross” has more than one meaning here).
The other is because he obviously is a very sick man whom, I sincerely hope, can overcome his problems and, at some point, regain his former status as a useful, productive citizen.
Ken, im surprised you misse this one.

Zeke – didn’t miss it. Just put it aside until this morning. Last night we took my wife out for a milestone birthday dinner…and everything else, including blogging, was in second place.
Wish her a happy belated B-day for me. 🙂
