THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from Howard Dean, a former governor of Vermont, leading Presidential candidate (until his Yyyyeeeeaaaaggghhhhh moment), chairperson of the DNC, and now elder statesperson of sorts for the Democrat Party.

Mr. Dean has taken it upon himself to try and explain away the academic brownshirts at colleges and universities – including the looney-left thugs in Berkeley, California, who dress up in black, with hoodies and masks and aggresively, often violently, prevent anyone to their right from speaking to the people who want to hear what they have to say.

Here is what Mr. Dean tweeted about Berkeley’s desperate attempt to prevent Ann Coulter from speaking:

“Hate speech is not protected by the first amendment”.

I kid you not, he really did tweet that.

Let’s start with the fact that hate speech IS protected by the first amendment.  If Howard Dean says things that I find hateful and repugnant I can expose what he said, call it what I think it is, and hope other people agree.  But I can’t force him not to say it.

This brings us to the other problem with Dean’s comment.  Who decides what hate speech is?  Him?  His pals?  What if the Ann Coulters of the world have a different view of who is spewing hate and Howard Dean’s diatribes are included.  Do they get to shut him up?

I award Howard Dean Quote Of The Day honors for reminding us of how lucky we are that he self-immolated his presidential ambitions – and how far to the left Democrats are lurching, at the expense of further marginalizing themselves into minority party status.

  • For a party that despise the Constitution and Bill of Rights they sure don’t seem to understand either document very well.
