Today’s quote comes to us from James Clapper, our outgoing Director of National Intelligence.
This morning, Director Clapper testified at a hearing of the Senate Armed services Committee. Here is what he had to say about the Russian “hacking” of Democrat emails during last year’s presidential campaign:
“They did not change any vote tallies or anything of that sort”.
“The Russians have a long history of interfering in elections, theirs and other people’s. I don’t think we’ve ever encountered a more aggressive or direct campaign to interfere in our election than we’ve seen in this case.”
In other words, James Clapper, the Obama-appointed Director of National Intelligence, indicates there was no tampering of election results, only an effort to interfere (in this case, make emails available to the public) which…
a) we know Russia tries to do because
b) it has done so before in the past.
The only difference between the 2016 presidential election and those other times was that they were more aggressive and more direct in their efforts (translation: they’re getting better at it…as, presumably, we are too).
I award James Clapper Quote Of The Day honors for, no doubt unintentionally, making it clear that even if Russia did “hack” our election, it was nothing more than business as usual.
Do you think Mr. Clapper’s boss, and the candidate he supported, would be making a stink about this if it were Republicans being hacked….or that Republicans wouldn’t be making the same stink Democrats are? I hope you know better.

The FBI did not examine the DNC servers before issuing a report stating the intrusion was a Russian attack.
