Today\’s quote comes to us from Brian Williams, anchor of NBC news.
During last night\’s broadcast, Mr. Williams presented a segment on the House Oversight Committee hearing in which jonathan gruber was nailed from both sides of the aisle (Republicans because they meant it, Democrats because they were playing let\’s-pretend) for, among other things, calling the American people “stupid” over and over again. Here is how he began:
“it is unlikely that most Americans have heard the name Jonathan Gruber until a few weeks ago, when a video emerged of him insulting their intelligence.”
Point of order: this was the first mention of jonathan gruber and his comments about the public ever reported by Williams.
The story has been out there for over a month, and not one word about it from this supposed news anchor. Then he has the gall to report it as though this suddenly became news only yesterday? As though it wasn\’t being reported elsewhere?
I award Brian Williams Quote Of The Day honors for a combination of the unbelievable chutzpah level it took to report on gruber that way, and for providing as clear a demonstration as you will ever find that he is not a newsman, but a very well paid hack with a partisan agenda.
