Today\’s quote comes to us from a source that is extraordinarily rich in material….but extraordinarily poor in content. The inimitable (and who would want to?) Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
As any observer of the political scene is aware, Ms. Schultz, who is chairperson of the Democratic National Committee, scheduled a grand total of four presidential debates prior to the first (Iowa) primary voting. Three of the four were on weekends, with the last one held during an NFL playoff game.
In short, she has done just about everything short of standing in front of the cameras with her thumbs in her ears and other fingers going up and down, while screaming “nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah” to minimize the number of people who would watch them.
The reason most people have (correctly, in my mind) settled on? Because Wasserman Schultz, a huge Hillary Clinton supporter (she co-chaired Clinton\’s 2008 campaign) figured that, since she was ahead of the pack, the best thing for her would be to make the debates as inconsequential as possible.
But you\’d never know any of this based on what Debbie Wasserman Schultz is quoted as saying in a New York Times online article:
“Idid my best to make sure, along with my staff and along with our debatepartners, to come up with a schedule that we felt was going to allow for the – to maximize the opportunity for voters to see our candidates.”
SAY WHAT????????
This isn\’t just “liar, liar, pants on fire”. It\’s not even close. This is “liar, liar, pants, entire wardrobe, clothes closet and every store you ever shopped in on fire”.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz wins Quote Of The Day “honors” for telling what has to be the single most blatant lie of the campaign so far – which, during a presidential campaign, is an accomplishment of remarkable magnitude….
….only rivaled by how badly her strategy might backfire if Bernie Sanders either wins or is competitive in both Iowa and New Hampshire.
