Today\’s quote comes to us from that veritable geyser of laughable quotes, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Here is what she has to say about the prospect of Donald Trump (and other Republicans) attacking Hillary Clinton\’s wayward husband, Bill:
“I think that Donald Trump or any candidate on the otherside of the aisle would raise Bill Clinton as somehow a negative to theirperil. I think every poll I\’ve ever seen shows that if President Clinton were acandidate tomorrow he\’d be reelected. He presided at that time over the longestperiod of prosperity, sustained, up to that point. Finished his term very popularand continues to be one of the most admired elected officials, and formerelected officials, and men in the world.”
Well, Bill Clinton were running for President and Republicans attacked him as a candidate, they would have to deal with what Ms. Wasserman Schultz said – a lot of which is BS, incidentally (Clinton\’s “prosperity” was largely the IPO balloon — which burst in March, 2000 and resulted in the NASDAQ dropping almost 70%, the Dow dropping, if memory serves, about 30%, and the country spiraling into a recession…which was then blamed on George Bush, of course, as if this were his doing).
But Republicans would not be attacking candidate Bill Clinton on his presidential record, they would be attacking Hillary Clinton, on her ongoing record of facilitating Bill Clinton\’s serial sexual escapades, and justifying/rationalizing/looking the other way as woman after women – powerless women being set upon by a very powerful man – became his unwilling sex toys.
Does Debbie Wasserman Schultz think the peril in that attack is on Republicans? Does she think that listing out the names – Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, among others – and reminding voters that these were not Republican operatives, but powerless, defenseless Democrats he came in contact with during his campaigns – is going to be a problem for the Republicans rather than Ms. Clinton.
Of course not. Because when Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a hardline Democrat whose thinking begins and ends at what she can say that will promote the Democrat Party regardless of acts or morality, gives campaign advice to Republicans…you can bet her advice will benefit Democrats and Democrats alone.
With that in mind, I award Debbie Wasserman Schultz Quote Of The Day honors, for giving Republicans the surest sign yet that going after Hillary Clinton\’s history of covering for Hubby Bubba is a good idea.
