THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Ken Berwitz

There are several potential Quote Of The Day winners today – all of whom called out either the CNBC jokes who asked questions during yesterday\’s debate or, more generally, the mainstream media so many of which are every bit as biased as the three CNBC stooges:

But, fierce though the competition was, Ted Cruz is today\’s winner.  After being asked the latest in a series of, essentially “tell us why you are so deficient” questions, Cruz had enough.

Here is his response – to thunderous applause from the audience, which clearly agreed:

“You know, let me say something at the outset. The questionsthat have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American peopledont trust the media.

“Thisis not a cage match. And, you look at the questions – \’Donald Trump, are you acomic-book villain?\’ \’Ben Carson, can you do math?\’ \’John Kasich, will youinsult two people over here?\’ \’Marco Rubio, why don\’t you resign?\’ \’Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?”

“Howabout talking about the substantive issues the people care about?

“Thecontrast with the Democratic debate, where every fawning question from themedia was, “Which of you is more handsome and why?”

“Andlet me be clear…the men and women on this stage have more ideas, moreexperience, more common sense than every participant in the Democratic debate. That debate reflected a debate between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks.

“Andnobody watching at home believed that any of the moderators had any intentionof voting in a Republican primary.

“The questions that are being asked shouldn\’tbe trying to get people to tear into each other. It should be what are yoursubstantive positions…”

And, to show you just how competitive Quote Of The Day was, I will also post the words of our first runner-up, Marcro Rubio, who, in responding to comments made about so-called “SuperPACs”, said:

“I know the Democrats have the ultimateSuperPac. It\’s called the mainstream media who every single day, and I’ll tellyou why. Last week, Hillary Clinton went before a committee. She admitted shehad sent e-mails to her family saying, \’Hey, this attack at Benghazi was causedby Al Qaida-like elements.\’ She spent over a week telling the families of thosevictims and the American people that it was because of a video. And yet themainstream media is going around saying it was the greatest week in HillaryClinton\’s campaign.

“It was the week she got exposed asa liar. It was the week that she got exposed as a liar.  But she has her super PAC helping her out,the American mainstream media.”

And, yes, the applause Mr. Rubio got for this statement was just as thunderous as for Mr. Cruz.
