THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today\’s quote comes to us from President Obama, who, when addressing the Democratic National Committee\’s winter meetings last Friday, had this to say about Republican opposition to ObamaCare (as the DNC members laughed and cheered him on):

“Forfive years, Republicans in Congress have been talking about offeringa serious plan of their own, their alternative.  You can go backand look at every year, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013,  everyyear:  “Our alternative plan is right around the corner.”  “We\’re just about to put it on the floor.” “We\’re going to have a vote.”  “We\’re still inthe drafting process.”   Every year.  I\’m sureit\’s coming any day now.

“Thereason they don\’t do it, of course, is that we alreadly took the best ideas that are out there about bringing down costs andcovering more people.  Yes, there have been some disruptions. Yes, we lost that first month out of the gate.  And we\’ve workedhard to fix problems that have come up without any cooperation from them.  In fact, they\’ve complained when we fix them.  They say “how dare you fix the things we were complaining about.”  Have you noticed that?  They\’ll complainabout something, and then we take steps to fix it, \’you\’re a tyrant\’, you\’re overreaching\’.

You\’re laughing, but it\’s true.  I\’m notmaking this stuff up.”

Actually, Mr. President, you are making this stuff up.  Virtually all of it.

You can read about alternative Republican plans, going back to 2008…the year before Mr. Obama\’s snarky little recitation, by clicking here.  And here.  And here (there\’s more but that should make the point clearly enough).

And the reason their alternatives have not gotten very far, as Mr. Obama – and, I\’m betting you – already know, is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid\’s determination not to have anything other than the ObamaCare legislation see the light of day.

And the problems that supposedly lasted only a month?  Actually, major areas – most notably the lack of any serious security for people\’s private information – are just as much there now as they were the day ObamaCare\’s web site was launched.

And unilaterally changing ObamaCare, without the constitutionally necessary congressional approval, is tyrannical overreaching.

And since the changes have largely been to extend waivers so that large and small corporations don\’t have to deal with ObamaCare for still another year (we\’re up to two years…and maybe there will be more), nothing has been “fixed” at all.  The only thing that has happened is that corporations can push the disastrous, unworkable monstrosity known as ObamaCare off to the future.

Other than that, your snide, sarcastic comments to an understandably supportive DNC crowd, makes sense.

I award President Obama Quote Of The Day honors for a commentary so loaded with distortions and flat-out BS that he is outdoing even his usual self on both counts.

Being this dishonest in that many words is not easy to do.  My congratulations, Mr. President.  Well done.

Oh, one other thing:  did you remind your audience that the DNC chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is still on record as saying Democrats will proudly run on ObamaCare in this year\’s midterm elections?  If not, how come?
