Today\’s quote (with a tip of my imaginary hat to Brent Baker at newsbusters.org), comes to us from none other than the President of the United States, Barack Obama. It was stated on October 22, 2012, during his last debate with Mitt Romney.
After Mr. Romney spoke of the geo-political threat posed by Russia, this is what President Obama had to say:
“The1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because, you know, the cold war has been over for 20 years.”
It was snide. It was snarky. It was sarcastic. But it was from Barack Obama – therefore it got a very, very good response from his Accomplice Media, the left, and the factually challenged.
It was also – as most of us (I hope) now realize – about as myopic and ignorant as it could be.
And, in case you wonder what we missed when we kept Mr. Obama in favor of Mr. Romney, here is Mr. Romney\’s response to that quote:
“Russia,I indicated, is a geopolitical foe…and I said in the same paragraphI said and Iran is the greatest national security threat we face.Russia does continue to battle us in the U.N. time and time again. Ihave clear eyes on this. I\’m not going to wear rose-colored glasseswhen it comes to Russia or Mr. Putin.”
Which do you think makes more sense? Which demonstrates a greater understanding of the world as it is, not as a series of sound-bites to be celebrated by a fawning media?
Sadly, Mitt Romney is our “coulda shoulda woulda”.
Even more sadly, Barack Obama is our “didda”.
But look at the bright side, Mr. President. A comment that obnoxious, and that wrong, cannot go unrecognized. Quote Of The Day Honors are yours. Enjoy them, as Vladimir Putin – the guy who you sneered about to Mitt Romney makes mincemeat of you, and the USA. Again.
