Today’s quote comes to us from New York City Mayor zohran mamdani.
According to Hannah Flerik and Craig McCarthy’s article for the New York Post, during a campaign rally with Senator bernie sanders – the “independent” who is a self-avowed socialist and therefore always aligns with Democrats – when the talk turned to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), mamdani said:
“These monsters take many forms today.”
And in case there is any doubt about his meaning, when asked if he regretted his characterization mamdani added:
“I used the term to describe all those who are preventing the birth of a new world, not solely a PAC, but frankly, super PACs at large, who are spending millions of dollars in deceptive and misleading ads that are blanketing airwaves.”
In other words, he acknowledged those words applied to AIPAC…and to other political action committees (PACs) as well.
I was going to write a scathing critique of mamdani’s comment, but powerlineblog.com’s John Hinderaker said it so well in his blog that I will just quote him:
These comments are utterly crazed. AIPAC is a perfectly mainstream organization that advocates for the relationship between the U.S. and Israel. It is bipartisan, and historically has supported more Democrats than Republicans. I myself have donated to a number of pro-Israel candidates through AIPAC, most recently just last week.
The idea that people like me are “monsters” bent on “genocide” is insane, but it is sadly typical of Mamdani, who virtually foams at the mouth whenever he mentions Jews. And at a time when Jews have come under intense physical threat from Mamdani’s socialist base, his over-the-top hate speech is either reckless or a deliberate incitement to violence.
Either way, Mayor Mamdani is a disgrace.
I wonder how many Israel supporting New Yorkers, Jew and non-Jew, who voted for this unabashed hater feel about this. Sadly, it would not surprise me at all to hear imbecilic deflections like “well, at least he isn’t a Republican”, or “he’s against Trump so that’s good enough for me”. These are the people who would vote for graham platner and his nazi tattoo for the same reason.
I award zohran mamdani Quote Of The Day (dis)honors for being so clear on where his sentiments lie. I only wish some of the people who voted for him – the ones who don’t rejoice in his Israel-hating/Jew-hating rhetoric – learn something from it…but I doubt many will.
