THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from the Guy Smiley of politics, California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Sunday night, while speaking in front of an audience to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, who is Black, Newsom actually said this:

“I’m not tryin’ to impress you, I’m just trying to impress upon ya, ‘I’m like you. I’m no better than you, yknow.  I’m a 960 SAT guy.

“And I’m not trying to offend anyone, y’know , tryin’ to act all there if you got 940, but literally a 960 SAT guy  I cannot, you, you’ve never seen me read a speech because I cannot read a speech…”

That is what Newsom tells a Black man, and that is the way he says it?  Wow.

Can you even begin to imagine what our media would be saying if that were a Republican presidential aspirant talking to a Black man; any Black man, let alone an accomplished successful, educated one?  (Mayor Dickens has a degree in chemical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a masters degree in economic development from Georgia State University.)

I award Gavin Newsom Quote Of The Day “honors” for showing us how clumsy and awkward he is when he isn’t tossing out clever one-liners, but trying, in an unscripted forum, to pander to minorities (say, how did that work for Hillary Clinton in 2016?)

And I’m still waiting for someone from our mostly Newsom-friendly media to ask him for a list of his positive accomplishments as Governor of California (can you name even one?).

If you agree his pandering response to Mayor Dickens was clumsy and awkward, just imagine how that would go.
