Today’s quote comes to us from Viola “Vi” Lyles, the Mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina.
As you are aware if you read this blog, last week, Iryna Zarutska, a refugee from The Ukraine who emigrated to Charlotte, North Carolina, was riding on the train, looking at her cell phone, minding her own business…when a career violent criminal and apparent mental case (who should never, ever have been let back on the streets) named decarlos brown Jr., who was sitting behind her, decided it would be a good idea to pull out a knife and stab her to death.
Here is the full statement of Mayor Lyles concerning this beyond-ugly event:
As you can see, other than tossing out a gratuitous “my thoughts and prayers go out to the young woman’s family and friends” there is no mention of the victim here. The large majority of her statement was a sympathy card to her murderer. In fact, Lyles didn’t even bother to mention Iryna Zarutska by name.
I award Quote Of The Day (dis)honors to Mayor Vi Lyles for showing us where her sympathies really lie…and pity for the people of Charlotte, North Carolina who voted against Lyles for having to suffer her as their Mayor…
…but not the people who voted for her. They got what they voted for. Maybe this will wake them up next time, if Lyles runs for re-election.
