Today’s quote comes to us from cynthia gonzalez, the Vice Mayor of Cudahy, California, a densely populated city within Los Angeles County. It is pulled from Matthew Seedorff’s article for Fox 11 – Los Angeles (and is also reported at CNN, NBC, The Associated Press, etc.)
This, so help me I am not lying, is what gonzalez advised gang members to do regarding the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the area:
“I wanna know where all the cholos are at in Los Angeles. 18th Street, Florencia. Where’s the leadership at?… Now that your hood is being invaded by the biggest gang there is, there ain’t a peep out of you… Don’t be trying to claim no block, no nothing if you’re not showing up right now trying to help out and organize.
“Don’t be trying to claim no block, no nothing. If you’re not showing up right now, trying to help out and organize, I don’t want to hear a peep out of you once they’re gone.”
“Whoever is the leadership over there, just get your f*** members in order.”
Translation: gonzalez is advising – demanding – that gang members which apparently are very much in evidence in Cudahy, instead of being disbanded, should be used to fight ICE agents.
I would show you the tik-tok video she put up making these statements, but she has deleted it – possibly in an effort to try and prevent it from being used as evidence in a prosecution.
Here is what the Los Angeles Police Protective League said about gonzalez’s sick comments:
“What Ms. Gonzalez urged and taunted these specific gangs to do in her social media post puts police officers and other law enforcement professionals at greater risk. Her actions are deplorable and potentially illegal. She should resign and she should be prosecuted if what she called for broke the law.”
According to the LAPPL, both gangs “have a known history of murdering police officers.” The organization referred to the 1998 killing of LAPD Officer Filberto Cuesta by an 18th Street gang member and more recently, the 2022 murder of LAPD Officer Fernando Arroyos by several Florencia gang members.
“The 18th Street and Florencia street gangs are notoriously dangerous Los Angeles-based criminal enterprises. They rule their `turfs’ through intimidation, violence, and murder, and finance their operations through the sale of narcotics and illegal firearms, prostitution, and protection rackets,” the statement read.
The LAPPL is, of course correct.
I award cynthia gonzalez Quote Of the Day “honors” for showing us what passes for government in Cudahy (and, I have no doubt, plenty of other locales in the Los Angeles, and overall California, area).
I would hope that this hate-filled, anti-law enforcement, ICE-threatening imbecile is arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
But in California? It’s just as likely that she’ll get a commendation of excellence from Cudahy’s Mayor…and Governor Newsom.
