Today’s quote – and it is a jaw-dropper – comes to us from Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX).
As you may be aware, President Trump has proposed that a $5,000 “dividend” be paid to citizens from the money being saved by DOGE.
(A quick note here: I consider this a terrible idea and suspect that it is going to be shot down. I also think Trump knows it will be, but wants it out there anyway, as a positive check-mark on his presidency.)
So what does Rep. Crockett have to say about this proposed “dividend”?
“We are not in the business of giving out money. And honestly, I don’t know what $5,000 will do for you.”
Honest, she really said that.
Uh, Rep. Crockett…
Have you ever heard of social security? Medicare? Welfare? How about the massive number of government giveaways around the world that Elon Musk and his DOGE people have uncovered, billions and billions of it for progressive causes? Does that by any chance count as the government giving out money?
And then we have that disdain for a $5,000 dividend.
Maybe it’s no big deal for YOU, Ms. Crockett. With your $174,000 salary, God knows how much more in perks and all that money you can get from speaking engagements, etc. it might be nothing more than chump change. But for a great many people – 30% to almost 50% depending on what source you reference – who say they are living paycheck to paycheck, it just might be seen as a little more substantial.
Can you even begin to imagine what Jasmine Crockett, who regularly evaluates things based on race and gender, would say if a White male conservative made that same statement about $5,000? Can you imagine how fast she’d point out that a great many Black families struggle to make it, and what an obtuse, insensitive and, yes, racist jerk he was?
So what does that make her?
I award Jasmine Crockett Quote Of The Day honors, for exposing her arrogance and hypocrisy so completely. I only hope it is heard, absorbed, and thought about, long and hard, by some of her supporters.
