THE QUOTE OF THE DAY

Today’s quote comes to us from Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who chairs the (Democrat, of course) Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Yesterday, Rep. Jayapal was in Chicago, speaking before the hard-left  Netroots Nation conference.  During her commentary, a group of “Free Palestine” activists (pretty middle-of-the-road for this bunch) who started chanting slogans and interrupted her.

So what did she say to appease them?

“As somebody who’s been in the streets and participated in a lot of demonstrations, I want you to know that we have been fighting to make it clear that Israel is a racist state.

‘That the Palestinian people deserve self-determination and autonomy, that the dream of a two-state solution is slipping away from us, that it does not even feel possible.”

Bingo.  The slogan-chanting turned to cheers.  She was a hero.

No one, of course, asked her what exactly made Israel a racist state.  Israel, to remind you, has a 20% Palestinian Arab population that lives freely, can buy and sell land, votes in elections and is represented in Israel’s Knesset and its judiciary (try and find so much as one Jew who can say the same in the so-called “Palestinian territories).

But she sure did get in those great Israel-hating sound bites, didn’t she.

I’m sure “the squad”, comprised of Israel-haters just like Rep. Jayapal, was quite happy with her comments.  As are a large percentage of Democrat supporters in the general population, given that Democrats are dramatically more anti-Israel than Republicans, and have been for years.

I award Jamila Payapal Quote Of The Day (dis)Honors for making her hatred of the Jewish state as plain as day…

…and Quote Of The Day dishonorable mentions to the majority of our media, which work diligently to try and keep the general public – certainly including Jews, who still vote heavily Democrat – from knowing that she is far, far from an isolated voice in her party.
