Today\’s quote comes to us from Michele Bachmann.
As you know – or, more exactly, as you have relentlessly been told by the left and what passes for mainstream media – Ms. Bachmann is an utter idiot who would be lucky to successfully tie the laces on her Maude Frickett sensible shoes each morning.
To others, she is a lawyer, a successful business entrepreneur and a three-term congressperson.
In any event, Ms. Bachmann at one time had presidential ambitions. And, on the campaign trail in August, 2011, this is what she said would happen to the price of gasoline if we aggressively worked at increasing domestic production:
“Theday that (President Obama) became President, gasoline was $1.79 a gallon.Look at what it is today. Under President Bachmann, you will seegasoline come down below $2 a gallon again. That will happen.”
This pledge aroused the ire of Time Magazine\’s Bryan Walsh. This is what he had to say about Ms. Bachmann and her claim that there again could be $2 gasoline:
…onWednesday Michele Bachmann said something that\’s just very, verywrong. Which isn\’t unusual in and of itself but is something thatneeds to be debunked…the reason that gas was – comparatively speaking – so cheap a few years ago…wasn\’t because the U.S. was suddenly pumping more oil…The U.S. – and the world – was in the depths of the worst recession since the 1930\’s.
…It\’s Econ 101: precipitous falls in demand usually triggerprecipitous falls in price, which is what happened to gas prices, dropping from a high of $4.05 a gallon in mid-July 2008 to a low of$1.69 a gallon at the end of December that year. If you seesub-$2-a-gallon gas again, I strongly suggest that you stock up onbottled water and canned tuna, because the economic end times may beat hand.
That so?
On Today\’s CBS This Morning, oil analyst Tom Kloza informed us that:
“Thisone is easy. You\’re going to see the cheapest Christmas since 2008. Ithink we\’ll average less than $2.50, and mostpeople will be able to buy gasoline for between $1.99 and $2.29.this could be the end of OPEC as we know it.”
FYI: Tom Kloza is a founder of the Oil Price Information Service (OPIS) and has been a foremost expert on oil pricing for four decades.
Is he an idiot too, Bryan?
How about you other folks in the mainstream media who knew for certain that Michelle Bachmann was ridiculous to say what she did? Do you figure Mr. Kloza is a fellow circus clown?
I award Ms. Bachmann Quote Of The Day honors – not just because she was correct, but because, no matter how many times it happens, I enjoy watching mainstream media taken to the cleaners by someone, usually a political conservative, that they both despise and disdain.

UPDATE: In case Tom Kloza wasn\’t enough for you, how about John Zehler, President of Virginia Fuels – Zehler also predicts prices below $2 and speculates it could go as low as $1.60 a gallon by the summer. Read all about it by clicking here.
